முருகனும் ஈழமும்Tamil-primary, Eelam-anchored, cross-read with astronomy as structural rhyme only

Six Tier-A dossiers on Murukaṉ (முருகன்): Tamil-primary spine, Ṣaṇmukha and the Kṛttikās (structural rhyme with Pleiades astronomy), the vēl as axis and Aruṇakirinātar's metrical mathematics, the six war-camps (aṟupaṭai vīṭu), Kataragama as the seventh camp (Vedda-Buddhist-Śaiva co-worship), and Nallur / Maviddapuram (Portuguese 1621 + temple-entry 1968). No horoscopy, no Vedic-science apologetics, no caste attribution.

Reading order · locked

Spine first · rhyme second · geometry third · geography fourth · Eelam fifth and sixth. The Tamil-primary philological move (Dossier 01) is the prerequisite for everything downstream. Read in order.

Six dossiers

1 · The Tamil-Primary Spine
தமிழ் முதன்மை

Murukaṉ before syncretism. Tolkāppiyam Poruḷ. 5 (kuṟiñci landscape deity), Paripāṭal hymns 5/8/14/17–21, Nakkīrar's Tirumurukāṟṟuppaṭai. The Sanskrit Skanda / Kārttikeya stratum is later contact, not source.

2 · Ṣaṇmukha and the Kṛttikās
ஆறுமுகம்

Six faces, six nurse-stars. Real astronomy: Pleiades ~444 ly, ~100 Myr (Gaia DR3; Meynet et al. 1993). Structural rhyme only — never a claim that ancient Tamils predicted stellar physics.

3 · The Vēl as Axis and Point
வேல்

Weapon-as-geometry. Aruṇakirinātar's Vēl Virutham (15th c.) and 1,300+ Tiruppukaḻ hymns as a systematic traversal of Tamil metrical pattern-space — metrical mathematics in the tradition of Pingala's Chandaḥśāstra.

4 · The Six War-Camps
ஆறுபடை வீடு

Tiruparaṅkuṉṟam · Tiruccentūr · Palani · Swāmimalai · Tiruttaṇi · Paḻamudircōlai. The six-count extends the hill-country deity across five of the Sangam tiṇai landscapes. Consolidated by Kacciyappa's Kanta Purāṇam (14th c.).

5 · Kataragama — the Seventh Camp
கதிர்காமம்

The Eelam anchor. Bastin (2002) on segmented co-worship: Vedda + Sinhala Buddhist + Tamil Śaiva at one site with three deity-identifications. The dossier refuses any claim of exclusive Tamil sovereignty over the shrine.

6 · Nallur & Maviddapuram
நல்லூர் · மாவிட்டபுரம்

Portuguese destruction of Nallur, 1621 (Queirós); companion to the 14 April 1622 Trincomalee destruction. Maviddapuram temple-entry struggle, 1968. The gap between what the poems say and what the temple gate did.

The spine

Six compact-archival dossiers on Murukaṉ (முருகன்) — Tamil-primary, Eelam-anchored, cross-read with astronomy and metrical mathematics as structural rhyme, never as derivation.

The cluster is Tamil first. The northern Skanda / Kārttikeya / Kumāra appears in the Sanskrit stratum (Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa; Mahābhārata Āraṇyakaparva 213–221; Kālidāsa's Kumārasambhava c. 5th c.) — but Murukaṉ is already the presiding deity of the kuṟiñci landscape in Tolkāppiyam (Poruḷatikāram 5), of the Paripāṭal hymns 5, 8, 14, 17, 18, 19, 21, and of the earliest surviving devotional-poem-as-guide, Nakkīrar's Tirumurukāṟṟuppaṭai (Pattuppāṭṭu 1). That is the spine — everything else is comparator.

Reading order

  1. Tamil-primary spine — Murukaṉ before syncretism.
  2. Ṣaṇmukha and the Kṛttikās — six faces, six stars, real astronomy, structural rhyme only.
  3. The Vēl as axis and point — weapon-as-geometry; Aruṇakirinātar's metrical mathematics.
  4. The six war-camps (aṟupaṭai vīṭu) — sacred geography as Tamil landscape memory.
  5. Kataragama, the seventh camp — the Eelam anchor; co-worship as ethnographic fact.
  6. Nallur and Maviddapuram — Portuguese 1621, temple-entry 1968, refugee-era devotion.

Non-negotiable refusals

  • No "Tamils predicted the age of the Pleiades" — the Kṛttikās are ~444 ly away and ~100 Myr old (Gaia DR3; Meynet et al. 1993); the myth is older than the observation is possible.
  • No horoscopy. No phalita. No caste attached to devotion.
  • No collapse into "Hindu."
  • No naming of living temple authorities or lineage-holders.
  • No claim of sovereignty over Kataragama; Vedda and Buddhist co-worship is co-primary.

Cluster-wide refusals
  • · No horoscopy, no phalita, no caste attributed to devotion.
  • · No claim that Tamils "predicted" the age or spectral class of the Pleiades. Structural rhymes only.
  • · No collapse of Murukaṉ into "Hindu deity." Tamil-primary, later syncretism explicit.
  • · No claim of exclusive Tamil sovereignty over Kataragama. Vedda + Sinhala Buddhist + Tamil Śaiva co-worship is co-primary.
  • · No naming of living temple authorities, lineage-holders, or ritual specialists.
