Katchatheevu is a small island in the Palk Strait. India and Sri Lanka settled the maritime boundary in the 1974 and 1976 agreements. The archive's Maritime Desk reads both treaties together and sets Tamil Nadu fishers' arrests beside the livelihood of northern Sri Lankan Tamil fishers. It does not call for the island's return.
