Mass Grave Science Desk

What the ground knows. What science can say.

Plain-language explainers grounded in the Minnesota Protocol, ICMP practice, and the ICRC Missing Persons standard. No graphic imagery. No claims beyond what the science supports.

DNA identification

How DNA is sampled, sequenced, and matched to family reference samples under the right-to-truth framework.

Forensic anthropology

What bones can — and cannot — tell us. Age estimation, trauma analysis, commingled remains.

Chain of custody

The Minnesota Protocol standard. Why every link, every signature, every timestamp matters in court.

Children's remains

Why their recovery is handled with extreme care, and why the public surface treats their dignity with restraint.

Institutional disclosure

An institutional surface of TLTE. Operated through the Unmai (live intelligence), Remembrance (memory) and Pattarai (workshop) organs. TLTE has seven canonical organs; the Institute is how they speak together on accountability. It is not an eighth organ, not a court, not a forensic body, not a survivor service.

The Institute mirrors, organises, and amplifies the work of named accountability bodies. It does not replace OHCHR, ITJP, PEARL, Adayaalam, the Office on Missing Persons, the Bishop of Mannar's standing call, or the courts of Sri Lanka.
